Connect ChatGPT
This is a cloud path. With Cloud AI Access turned on, ChatGPT can search your photo library and show results in the conversation. Cloud AI Access is included with Pro and Family.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need Avlok with at least one folder or your Apple Photos library processed (Avlok runs on macOS, Windows, and iPhone), an Avlok account, and Cloud AI Access turned on. Cloud AI Access is included with Pro and Family, and starts with a 7-day free trial. You also need a ChatGPT plan that supports custom connectors.
Turn on Cloud AI Access
Section titled “Turn on Cloud AI Access”-
Open Avlok and go to Settings → AI Integration.
Turn on Cloud AI Access. If you are on the free tier, you will be offered the Pro trial here.
-
Choose which folders to include.
Pick the folders ChatGPT should be able to search. Folders you leave out stay on your device. Private folders are always excluded.
-
Let the chosen folders sync.
Avlok uploads small thumbnails and short descriptions for those folders. Your full-resolution photos never leave your device.
Add Avlok in ChatGPT
Section titled “Add Avlok in ChatGPT”-
Open ChatGPT’s connector settings.
Find the section for connectors or custom integrations in ChatGPT’s settings.
-
Add Avlok by URL.
Use the connector URL from Avlok’s Cloud AI Access settings (Settings → AI Integration). Copy it from there to get the exact address.
-
Sign in to Avlok.
You will sign in with your Avlok account and approve the connection over OAuth. ChatGPT never sees your password. See Authentication.
-
Try it.
Ask ChatGPT to find a photo by description. It will call Avlok and return results from your chosen folders.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Same as the other cloud path: small thumbnails and short descriptions for your chosen folders are stored so the assistant can search them, full-resolution photos never leave your device, and you can turn it off at any time. See How Avlok handles your data.
Trouble?
Section titled “Trouble?”See Troubleshooting.
